William 24 juillet 2007 · 2Here is my reply to you lovely story about a gal with an injured ankle.. I hope you will forgive me if I write it in English. Here it is;
William saw this pretty gal, who clearly had something terribly wrong with her leg.
“Can I help you! My old girlfriend had a very badly broken leg, I know the signs. My name is William.”
“My name is Alexia. Thank you so much for helping me! I think I have a very bad sprain. SOS Mediciens really doesn't seem interested in a sprain.”
“They may be right, but in this case I think they are very badly wrong. I think you have a broken, and a very badly broken, ankle .You need to get to a hospital – as quickly as possible!”
William helped Alexia up the stairs of the Metro, and called a cab. He told the cab to take them to the Mercy Hospital. When they arrived, William helped Alexia into the Emergency Room, “I believe this lady has a badly fractured ankle.”
“Well Sir, we will soon find out. The ankle does look very bad. Wait here while we take her to X-Ray. Are you her husband?.”
“No. just a friend.”
William waited for about three hours, looking at old copies of Paris Match. Finally a nurse appeared.
“Are you William, Alexia's friend.”
“Yes, I am. How bad is her ankle?
“Well you were right. She has a very badly fractured ankle. We are admitting her and taking her to surgery. You should go home – you will not be able to see her until mid-morning tomorrow, at the earliest”.
William went home and slept badly. He worried about Alexia, the beautiful girl he had met in the Metro. Somehow, William knew there was something terribly wrong with her leg.
William had a lot of vacation time coming to him, so he took the next day off, so he could go to the hospital and see the girl he had helped in the metro. He arrived about noon, and went to the information booth.
“Yes, Alexia – she is in ward 2A - orthopedic ward. You can visit her,, but you are not to stay too long
William went to Ward 2A, and went into Alexia's room He was stunned by what he saw. There was Alexia lying there propped up in a hospital bed. Her leg was elevated on a Bohler frame. A pin had been inserted through her heel. Attached to the ends of the pin was a horseshoe-shaped device, which was, in turn attached to a rope. The rope passed over pulleys at the foot of Alexia's bed, and a huge weight hung at its end.
“Alexia, what have they done to you? Why have they placed you in this torture device?'
‘No William, it is not a torture device. The doctors have placed me in traction [extension] The doctors have placed me in traction because my broken ankle needs traction. Thank you, thank you William for bringing me to the hospital. The doctors tell me that if you hadn't, I might never walk on this ankle again. Thanks to the traction in which they have placed me, the doctors tell me I will walk on this ankle again.”
William looked down at this lovely woman lying on a hospital bed with her leg in traction. As she thanked him for all his help, he suddenly experienced romantic feelings towards her.
Well, UCans. I do hope you will like this story!
So I hope you will like this next installment of my story.
William came again to Alexia's bedside. “Alexia, how are you doing?”
“William, I am a little bit better. My ankle doesn't hurt quite as much, and while I still very weak, I do feel a little bit better”.
“William, you were so upset when you saw me in traction. Please, don't be. The traction makes my damaged ankle feel so secure and comforted, and the steady pull of the traction weight eases my pain.”
“William, thank you so much for getting m to this hospital. Yes, they tell me I will be here for at least six weeks. But what would have become to my leg if you hadn't brought me to this hospital If you hadn't, the nurses say it might have been something terrible. William, thank you, thank you!””
William felt romantic feeling arising in him. “Alexia, I feel like the Good Samaritan – who bound up the wounds of the poor victim of bandits. I am so happy I brought you to this marvelous hospital.
“Alexia, are you married. I don't see a wedding ring on your finger.”
“No William, I am not married, I hoped I would be by now. I was formally engaged, but the more I saw of my fiancé, the more I realized that marriage to him would be a bad idea.”
“William, are you married?”
“No, Alexia, I am not married.. Like you, I thought I might be married by now. I had a very, very, serious relationship with a lovely gal named Sylvia. I guess we fell in love with each other when Sylvia was in hospital after her left leg had been shattered in a fall. After her leg healed, to the extent it did, we were talking about becoming formally engaged. Then her company, offered her a big promotion – which involved her moving to the far ends of the EU. It was the kind of promotion she had to accept – or else. And I couldn't leave my job. So, after a lot of thought, and many tears, we felt we had to say goodbye.”
“I'm sorry William”
“I am too, Alexia, but I know new love will come along.”
William looked down at this broken woman, lying in a hospital bed with her leg in traction. Again, he began to feel romantic feelings. Were these the same kind of feelings William had felt for Sylvia when she lay in her hospital bed with a terribly fractures leg?
William looked down at Alexia's face? There was a look on her face – was it the same kind of look he had seen on Sylvia's face?
“Well, Alexia, I think I must go now.”
“I understand. Please, William, do come back tomorrow!'
“Don't worry, Alexia, I certainly will.”
William left Alexia's room. He wondered – was it possible that he had found his new love? And had Alexia found her new love? Well, long before Alexia left the hospital, they would both know!
Ce qu'on en a dit sur le moment
